Symptoms are clues, not a diagnosis

Backups, wet ground, odours, alarms and slow drains can have different causes. A useful review considers tanks, pipes, pump chambers, distribution, the leaching bed, grades, surface water, soil and system history.

Problems that may support a focused repair

A repair can be appropriate when the failure is isolated and the rest of the system remains serviceable.

  • Damaged or settled inlet, outlet, header or distribution piping
  • Baffles, risers, lids or accessible tank components
  • Pump, float, alarm or control problems
  • Crushed lines or localized distribution faults
  • Surface drainage and grading that sends clean water toward the system

When a larger solution is more responsible

A structurally unsafe tank, exhausted or saturated dispersal area, undersized system or major site limitation may not be solved by another small repair. The next step can be replacement, reconstruction or further design investigation.

Repair work is not routine pump-out service
